Brahms: Quartet Opus 67 in B-flat major

Completed in 1875, the year he turned 42.  Dedicated to Professor Theodor Wilhelm Engelmann, an amateur cellist. Brahms thought the worklighthearted and cheerful: "a useless trifle, to avoid facing the serious countenance of a symphony", referring to Symphony 1, which debuted a week later. Read more on wikipedia.
